Line Judge, I noticed you had raised the subject of some of the best volleyball players in the state. You had also posted about Kemmerer having potential to upset Powell. I have watched CodiAnne Corpening of Kemmerer for a couple years and she is a pretty darn good setter and real scrappy on defense and serves alot of aces. She would be on my short list of setters in the state.

Bulldogger, I agree. Corpening is a heck of an athlete and gives it all whenever she plays. I'm glad that others have recognized her efforts. Good luck to the Lady Rangers at state this week against douglas and the rest of the field. GO RANGERS!!

I have to admit I thought Cokeville was unbeatable this year but Burlingtons girls showed they can play with anybody. the third time could be the charm and I think the Lady Huskies are peaking.
Mountain View, Powell and Sheridan cake walk to the trophy.
As for the best player, I don't see many but Paige Neves is a heck of an athelete. All three of her older sisters have played college volleyball, two at D1, and I think she's the best in the family. She raises her game when the competition gets better so who knows how far she can go. Anyway, give her a look if you get a chance. ... and she's only a junior.

what happened to all the hype of the setter from Jackson? i don't see her or her team making the waves they were suposed to this year.
i'm looking foward to watching a rematch of Mt. Veiw and Big Horn in the 2A finals on Sat. go Rams.

I don't think Mountain View will walk through the 2A field. they have to beat some premiere teams just to get to the finals against (probably) Big Horn. I know they've played a tough schedule too. Watch out for Tongue River, despite an early loss to LFL they rolled teams last weekend.
good luck to coach Nichols and Natrona this weekend

Murrykins, Powell a cakewalk to the trophy?? Have you seen Rawlins or Wheatland play?

Posted by: murrykins on October 30, 2008 9:11AM EST
No i haven't, i just like Powell. We'll see.

As a track coach I was wondering if between games of the LFL - Mountain View match we could get Henry and Wollert in a match 800 M race. That could be fun again and a preview of May 22.
Murrykins, Big Horn is awfully, Natrona and KW will both finish ahead of Sheridan.

Mountain View is very athletic but their side of the bracket contains some good teams and a possible semifinal match from a year ago if Sundance can get by Rocky Mountain and MV can get by LFL.

It will be fun let the games begin.

bobcat fan I'm not sure if your refering to Kelly Burns but if you watched any of there games you would relly see why this is a team sport. Burns is a great play on a so-so team. If we are looking for the best team in the state thats one thing but as far as the best individual players she's way way up there. By the way bulldogger you are sooooo right about Corpening what a player!!! I've seen her dig balls that should have put holes in the floor. Also volleyballfan your not kidding I was at last week tourny and Rawlins is a fine team not so sure about Wheatland though. Still think Powell is a team on a mission but make no mistake State is going to be no "cakewalk" for anyone.

I agree that a state championship will not be a cake walk for anyone. If Glenrock was playing Powell instead of Buffalo I think they would knock them out, but they didn't take care of business at regionals. Speaking of libero's, the one from Douglas is as good as I have seen. Can't wait to see all of the games!

way to go lady rangers!! A great win over douglas. now we need to put together the game of a lifetime to be the defending champs!! GO RANGERS!!!

WAHOOOOOOO!! Way to go girls! Unbelievable match against a great wheatland team. Lets seal the deal with another good one against powell tomorrow. Will be there rooting you on. GO RANGERS!

Line Judge, got a chance to watch Corpening and boy were you right about digging balls that should have put holes in the floor and she hustles after and saves shanked balls that not many could get to. Blocks well too. She is alot of fun to watch, she seemed to be all over the floor! Kemmerer really had a great tournament. Great weekend for all fans!
