Sports Goulash
Odds and ends of Wyoming high school sports.
Signing on
Posted by: Patrick Schmiedt on April 16, 2008 at 10:14PM EST

It's back... sort of. The Class of 2008's college commitments. We had this list going for quite a while back on "Old Goulash" but, unfortunately, the list never came back on "New Goulash" because we never had a way to permalink it.

Well, we still don't, but I'm tired of holding on to a list that's not seeing the light of day. So here it is.

Disclaimer: This list contains both verbal and written commitments and is subject to change.

To add or change a commitment, e-mail me at patrick.schmiedt@trib.com

just one more reason Wyoming needs it's own Division two college. Look at all the talent, and mom and dads money, leaving the state. What are we thinking?

Great list Patrick!

Danette's twin Dixie will be playing volleyball as well, probably at Central Wyoming, and Remick Rappleye from SV will be playing football at Dixie in Southern Utah.

Wyo Preps has a good list too. Mac Jones will wrestle for Northwest I also believe Orlando Rodriguez will wrestle for Dickinson St and Jeramy Brandle has signed to play football with Dickinson St. We were told on our trip to Dickinson St that this could be one of the best senior classes for wrestling that has come out of wyo.

Cody Emrick has signed to play basketball at Central Wyoming College.

hey i know this is a signing forum, but i was wondering what people in wyoming think of baseball becoming a school sport, i just want to see if their are people out there who want it to be school sport

Mitch,

I think this was somewhat addressed when the number of schools playing soccer was discussed here. It is a numbers and budget game and a weather crap shoot in the spring. I believe that some states that have high school baseball and softball do so in the summer. Might be a possibility.

Hey all,

Not trying to be a jerk here, but please post only signings/commitments that you're absolutely sure about. No probablys or maybes here, please. Thanks.

Well, I assume those Angell kids from Lovell are brothers? Do they hate one another, or what? One a Blue Hawk & the other a Yellow Jacket? Should make for some interesting Christmas breaks!!! Go Jackets!! (nothing personal, Brandon!!)

Megan House from Southeast has signed to play basketball for Casper College next year.

I was glad to see the Pokes picked up the Rollin kid from Rock Springs. I had the opportunity to watch the kid play twice this past season and I thought he was the most talented football guy in the state. From what I could see he packed his team a long way this season. Great job Wyo. I'm glad this one didn't get away. I'm living in Utah now so I'm not able to keep up. Can you tell me where the Stratton kid ended up? I'm assuming CSU based on what his brother did. Is that right?

From Powell, add Michael Hildebrand for Cross Country and Track at MSU-Billings, Abby Pollart for Volleyball at Central Wyoming, Katie Patterson for Volleyball at Casper College and Mak Jones for Wrestling at Northwest College.

I am sure about Orlando signing with dickinson state for wrestling. Again I believe Dickinson State has signed some great athletes from Wyoming. They are having a great signing period in wrestling and football! I came from Gillette to wrestle in Dickinson and this was the best descion I have made. Glad to see the DSU sign on's. I hope to see them all in the fall!

My daughter is on a full music scholarship. Maybe we ought to get some pictures of kids like her signing their letters.

K - Call the newspaper and have them come. That is what I have to do!

Posted by: Bulldog Fan on April 20, 2008 2:17PM EST
k....Our paper will put about anything in it, but you have to be the one to let them know what is going on. We have parents that take pictures and send them in and some that write articles about events. Some of our coaches/teachers/adivsors are good about submitting things and some are not. Get one of the kids to do an article for extra credit. If you like this forum see about starting one for music. (not that we mind if you post here) By the way, congrats on your daughter's scholarship.

Chris-
Actually, the two Angell kids are cousins!

Posted by: Scott Smith on April 24, 2008 11:54AM EST
k- I agree, she should get recognition for that, as should all students who achieve great things in any scholastic or extra-curricular activity. I hope your local paper will support your kids as well as ours does in Powell.

Posted by: Mike Walk on April 24, 2008 4:35PM EST
K, I think that is great that your daughter is on a full music scholarship. You should be proud of her. I really doubt that this is the place to talk about getting pictures of kids like her signing their letters. I mean after all it is called SPORTS GOULASH not MUSIC GOULASH.
