Advance apologies
Posted by: Patrick Schmiedt on February 22, 2008 at 1:18AM EST

Just want to apologize ahead of time for some incorrect scores that will appear in some editions of Saturday's Star-Tribune.

The first comes in the boys 2A West regional. Greybull defeated Mountain View 46-36. The correct score will appear in most editions of the Star-Tribune; however, in our earliest edition, the score was transposed.

The second comes in the girls 2A East regional. Wright defeated Pine Bluffs 47-40. That score will be wrong in every edition of the Star-Tribune on Friday.

Both scores were transposed on the WHSAA regional basketball web site. As of 11:15 p.m. on Friday, neither incorrect score has been fixed. We used this site a the basis for our scores for the early editions of our paper.

Fortunately, the tournament directors at both sites faxed us quarter scores from those games, and those faxes alerted us of the mistakes -- however, not before some incorrect versions of the scores (and in the case of the 2A East girls, every version) got on paper and into the Star-Tribune delivery trucks.

The correct versions of the tournament brackets will appear online at http://www.trib.com/sports .

Thanks for your understanding.

State wrestling got off to a great start with breakfast of scrambled eggs, hash browns, sausage, biscuits and gravy served to all of the wrestlers and coaches after weigh-in at the Casper Events Center.
Volunteers from the Proud to Host the Best committee served and the expert kitchen crew at the Events Center did the cookin.
Same thing tomorrow.

Just came from the Burlington St. Stephens game and I would like to say I have never seen worst sportsmanship by a Native American team and it's fans in my entire life. The side body block thrown at the end of the game could have put that poor Burlington girl in the hospital and it was totally uncalled for. The St.Stephens fans were even worse than the players, if that could be possible, and should be ashamed of themselves. The WHSAA nededs to take a look at this game before next weeks State Playoffs and disquallify St. Stephens from playing. What a great display of sportsmanship the Burlington Team showed by not retaliating against the dirty play of the lady eagles. This was just awful!!
